THE VOICE FROM THE CLASSROOM
My host mom gave me a big hug and said goodbye…
I had a very good relationship with my family during my stay in Edinburgh. Although I had to leave at 7 o’clock on the last morning they got up and had breakfast with me. They saw me to the door and said good-bye. Then my host mom gave me a big hug and said that we should keep in touch and that she would text me when they were coming to Switzerland during their holidays, because by then they had already planned their visit to Switzerland. This hug showed me that they really liked me. We had become really good friends during my stay. I liked the conversations with them and especially the ones with my host mom. Every day when I came back from school she was in the kitchen and I had a chat with her about different themes. They really integrated me in their life and it was almost like home. They treated me like a member of the family. We watched films on TV together with their children. Or every time when our group had a little excursion, my host mother showed me on a map where I had to go and which buses I had to take. So the parting was kind of emotional. The exchange was a great experience also in this respect, and I very much enjoyed it.
